I'm also seeing a pattern, of people implying that assholes aren't really assholes because they make negative comments about their victims (which is also probably why those same people are seeing the patterns of other things).

They're talking about you misunderstanding the seme I think? That he's not actually an asshole he s just confused. I honestly agree with you he is an asshole he's an asshole in the uke's pov and the uke he is too dependent to the seme.
Yeah, in general I wanted to make this comment because of author making stories like Black Lotus where there is just this terrible seme and us readers just have to deal with their abuse.
Exactly. It seems like some authors love playing with our emotions. Its like the authors are the seme and we readers are the uke. No matter how much they abuse us we still deal with it and keep reading. *sigh*
