I wanted to cry when Kai received Ren's text. Imagine if Kai didn't push Ren away and agreed to go home with him then Ren wouldn't have a gf. They went out with others to get better grasp of things and in hopes of maybe falling in love with others. They were happy to support each other but inside they were hurting. My heart was breaking while reading. Their BL jokes turned for real. I had a friend we used to tease (in a friendly way not bullying) and after a while he came out to us. Things like that happen in reality. I like their friend Kanamecchi; all the jokes aside he was genuinely concerned about Kai and Ren. Kanamecchi and Andy always tease them but I believe once they find out that the jokes were real they'd be supportive. Aoki seemed like a good friend too.

I really like the symbolism used in this manga. Well, in the art world ultramarine is a precious color, more precious than gold. The sky and the ocean might be blue but in nature blue is a rare color. Ren noticed the sky was bluer one summer day when Kai returned from vacation. And when he confessed he told Kai that he is his life, world, everything, and his ultramarine. It was like he was saying he was his sunshine but in a different way. I like that symbolism of the color blue here and then there's youth and gold instead of blue in the manga 'Golden Sparkles' and youth and blue in 'Ao Haru Ride (Blue Spring Ride)'. I was also reminded of '3-gatsu no Lion' because of shogi.

Oh, and I like that they didn't kiss, cheat or anything before they settled things with their exes. I was so giddy when they were playing shogi. Kai is unaware that his insights turn on Ren. Ren being so bold so randomly sweeps Kai's feet off.

I hope this manga gets adapted into an OVA, anime film or even a live-action film one day.
