Like why is it a thing, they can have a brother-sister relationship so why that. He deserves happiness but why did the author make her the key to his happiness and not the fact that he's able to be together with his family again? Anything but dating his legal sister ╥﹏╥

For the hidden feelings while growing up part, the author didn't actually show that. It wasn't hinted, I don't think. So I don't think that's true, but you can believe it if you want. Usually I take things at face value, sometimes when you discover something in the story its because the author hints at it, I consider that face value too. He simply distanced himself from his family to keep them safe then got back in touch. Then he met his family again, that's when the author starts hinting he likes her I guess. But you know all this cause ur a fan of the story. (⌒▽⌒) It would be different if the author hinted at their love relationship from when they first met, that's the difference between them and Eren and Mikasa.
