In the novel rape isn't there. For one the Duke did ask Ripley for consent. And while she was still drunk the author makes it clear in a Instagram post that she was still in solid enough state of mind to reject him if she didn't want to do anything. Secondly, Ripley throughout the jivek remembers that night as a fond memory. Considering she can remember it fully she isn't nearly as drunk as one believes. And considering she remembers it fondly she must have liked it. Lastly, in the morning after they screw a few more times while sober. So that's sort of clears it all up?

i didnt even realise how rapey this was until i re-read the first chapters.. they sleep together while zeronis is completely sober and ripley is drunk af what the fuck
