I just finished binging all of the chapters and I have a theory of what's going on.

I think 'four months ago' mc was drugged with the medicine that the suspect used.

Mc said it was his first time getting drunk. I'm sure it's not his first time attending an event like this. Some might argue that people pushed him to drink more, but that should've happened a few times already, yet this is his first time getting drunk. Mc also said didn't remember anything. I think his drink got spiked with the medicine.

When ml talked to mc before he was supposed to meet with the duke, I think ml unintentionally saved him from the duke, and being possibly killed. He forgot because of the side-effects, and he didn't contact him because the medicine wore off.

When ml's perspective was shown, i knew(or at least suspected) that the duke was either the killer or an accomplice. When he showed up having blood on him, he used the excuse of killing a deer, but why did he lowkey refuse to show the deer the first time mc asked? As if he's buying time? I think he accepted the second time because the body has been replaced. His wording was also very odd that time.

So mc got drugged with the medicine at the party, duke was supposed to meet him and do the deed with him or possibly, kill him. But before they met up, ml shows up in disguise and saves him, they they do the deed and mc get pregnant. Mc forgets because of the side-effects of the medicine. Duke shows up occasionally because his plan failed and to see if he still has a chance with mc. Mc investigates and finds out about some of the details of the crime, the existence of the medicine, and it's effects and side-effects. Duke gets rejected while in the process of hiding and replacing the body with a deer.
