From the novel, the reason he did not pursue Aria is because he thinks that Aria is pitiful and he was scared the his sister will do something bad to her. Although he want to protect her, it can only be done if he follows what his sister wants. Don’t worry tho, from what I remember he’s the one who confessed everything about his sister planning to treason. I think he got stripped by his title and now live as a commoner:)

But it was mentioned in his pov in the novel that he was planning to succeed the duke title and marry mielle and once he's gained enough power he was planning to make aria as his side girl since she was the one he truly liked

Well to be fair nobody really knew aria was associated with the crown prince that time and also had such a strong backing from multiple business nobles, all she was dubbed with at that time was 'the daughter of a prostitute who managed to climb up to nobility' ¯_(ツ)_/¯

You know I was thinking what will happen to Oscar?, cuz he's not a bad person -he's just a fuqing coward- and his sishit + fianshit will most likely (hopefully) have no head by the end of this so I wonder if the household will fall (since sishit will probs marry the king of another country right?) or he jus becomes the head (usually treason is something that has to do with everyone in the household and he's not exactly a "stranger" about everything, he knows but doesn't do shit...)
