So the new bf told him that while he was drunk he took advantage of him, so he would want to stay with him. That’s why he stayed with him because he thought he raped the new bf, but he didn’t and it was all a plan made by the new bf.

According to people that read ahead of the novel(??) anyways spoilers said that yes like what we have seen this new bf did stay by ex side while ex was going thr horrible horrible depression but how their “bf status” started is when the new bf kinda ig made a move on ex when ex was drunk so ex woke up the next day and thought he r@ped the new bf and felt responsible hence he entered this relationship I mean even if the new bf explained (idk if he did or not) that it was himself who made a move on ex but no matter what considering how much bigger(and most likely stronger physically) mostly people would think the weaker can’t overpower them and hence became the victim etc etc.

But this is just from spoilers told by many people and we all came to accept that fact as tru that their relationship did not started off umm healthy and rather a bit manipulative and also new bf taking advantage on such a vulnerable depress drunk person ummm...

The MC's ex's new boyfriend had sex with the drunk, depressed ex. That's how their relationship started.

The ex believes he forced himself on his current boyfriend, this is why he said he did something bad and unforgivable. The new boyfriend of the ex raped him (a drunk person can't give consent)...
He has yet told the ex what really happened that night, leaving the ex with the responsibility of staying in a relation (well at least up until now). The ex's new bf is very emotionally dependent and in this case, can be seen as quite manipulative.
