bias

this was written by https://forum.novelupdates.com/members/upsadaisy.248906/ i thought the argument was interesting
Are people not being a bit..biased?

In the original translations of the first 3 chapters of the novel, the ML was the one who told her to live her life for herself not for anyone else (ie her father) and reminded her of how her mother told that she's the most important person in her life. She then became obsessed with the ML and thought that if she was by his side then she would be complete.

Then despite knowing he was already engaged, she and her father forced the ML into a situation where he had no choice but to accept her engagement. She didn't care about him at all and only herself. So when she met the ML again he already didn't like her because she was behaving exactly like her own father and disregarded his life to suit her own.

Throughout her pregnancy (and after) she never once told the child she loved it and her only concern was that it must resemble the ML and not her and frequently told her baby bump this. She had the child taken away from her because she wouldn't touch him, wash him or even feed the child and left it to the nanny to do all of this. All she would do was stare at the child. Whilst she may of loved the child, she was completely incapable of taking care of it and it would have died in her care if the servants hadn't intervened.

Next in the case of the old fiancee, the FL overhears the servants talking about how the ML was still visiting her (likely done intentionally within earshot of her as its clear the servants don't like her). This provokes the FL into confronting the woman and telling her to stay away and the fiancee tells her that its her who stole her position. The fact that the FL went to the old fiancee infuriates the ML as it wasn't her place to do that and he told her wouldn't take any other partner other than his wife or have another child because he's well aware how the battle for succession destroys a brothers relationship.. ie what happened with his own brother. She then goes into premature labour from this confrontation.

After the child is born and she isn't taking care of him andthey forcibly separate her from him and move her outside the main house to cool off. However, it seems her mental progresses and she falls ill and dies.

Whilst I don't condone the ML treatment of her by taking the child completely away from her and moving her out of the house, I equally don't condone the FL either. She gave him justifiable reasons to dislike her and her mental illness made her incapable to act as a fit mother. You could say that maybe her treatment of the child would have gotten better over time but that's equally unfair on her son. Whilst, her mental illness may explain why she did the things she did, it equally doesn't make them justifiable. If we won't excuse the ML if he has a traumatic past then we should equally not forgive a FL for the same reason.

As the ML told her he wouldn't take another woman, then its clear he respected her enough not to have an affair with his old fiancee and maybe was visiting her as he still viewed her as a friend. As he brought her in, it was maybe because she offered to help look after the child until the FL was mentally fit to come back (likely her plot to get her position back). But then again, these last two points are only my speculations on what has happened.

I don't agree with the forced marriage part since he did enter a marriage of convenience by his own will.

But it makes sense why he took Elle away. It wasn't because of ill will it's because FL was mentally ill. He feared for elle's safety and let his ex look after her.

Was it the right decision? No. He should have listened to FL and let her decide what to do, instead of forcing her. He shouldn't have invited his ex. He shouldn't have taken away Elle from her.

all I have to say is that the duke fucked up big time unintentionally

maybe because of the FL father, he brought them back together even tho the ML didn't approve but in the end he's force to do what the FL father wants to do for the sake of something (ig his tittle or that his people are in danger(?)), like it was part of the FL father's plan to harass his daughter like what the ML said and the ML also said that his ex is like a snake or something.

I somewhat understand why the FL didn't touch or have any physical contact of her child because she's afraid that she'll soil him or something cuz the FL father's always blaming her and telling her that she's curse.

what a shitty father, I pity the mom for marrying that butthole without knowing his personality乁༼☯‿☯✿༽ㄏ

I totally agree. She wasn't a good mother in her first life. She needed therapy before she can be in her son's life. How can she care for him when she can't even touch him.

Thanks for the summary. This novel just seems boring to me.

Idk why FL is even considered a curse? Only her mom died and she died saving the son not the daughter so the dad should blaims the son not the daughter.

Also idk why ppl are so hard on ml with tragic past or with metal illness but FL is forgiven for anything. That's a bit unfair. So I agree with you on the bias.
