It’s better to 110% rather than just do what’s required and not feel satisfied.
Even if you’re not getting paid for the extra work, you should still do your best so not only YOU feel satisfied but the people around you.
If you feel guilty, than you know you’re not putting all the effort that you want.
Damn I remember reading this back in January and as much as I want to like it I just hate the message it's sending. Like "Why not make make it better if you can?" cause that would be overtime and you're not being paid for it. This is literally how game crunch works and happens to so many industry newbies who want to make the best thing possible but at the expense of themselves (and the company because now they think that they can make a game in a certain amount of time and not account for the unpaid overtime of this one worker continuing the cycle of crunch).
Is he seriously guilting her into this? If you want a passion project then do it but this is your job. If your employer wants better quality then they're gonna pay for better quality! Sorry but goddamn do I hate this being the premise of a romance manga. I know they mentioned paid overtime if you get past 80 hours but that still doesn't change the fact that they're not being paid for their all-nighter until then. Like "You won't work for free? Are you not passionate about this?" And not to mention how it perpetuates the whole "suffer for your art" bullshit. This is extra weird coming from a mangaka of all people who should know best about how horrid crunch can be this just upsets me so much. IRL example: The Last of Us 2 wining multiple Game Awards but at what cost?
