I thought the flashback was the long red haired guy in season 2 that told shin or Wolfgang that if Wolfgang weren't golden haired and golden eyed then shin wouldn't have helped him at all. Like he questioned shin's loyalty and love towards Wolfgang as a person and implied he was driven to make him king because of his features. What triggered it might have been him wanting to have those features in the next generation and him thinking what the guy said was true
