ok but her family-

i think her family is getting unnecessary hate in here, bc the more sylvia opens up to them the more everyone backs her up. i'm not saying they were right in everything they do, but og!sylvia was horrible no matter what. no one from her family did or said anything bad, but outsiders. she turned her anger towards wrong people, her strongest allies.

Absolutely. If there's something to blame here, it's the storytelling lol. There's no subtlety at all in their change, i'm pretty sure the response would be different if it were internalized more.

But her own family shunned her right? I mean, at that young and tender age, is it right to do that to Sylvia?

As the original poster said, og Sylvia was indeed horrible. If we're reading this story about og sylvia before the current one took over, and in the younger sister's perspective, everyone would probably agree to shun that bitch.
I mean i know it's unfortunate that she died in contempt, but everyone around the blonde was just protecting her. And tho og Sylvia was misunderstood and neglected in her family, driving her to be a bad person, she still did those things and hurt other people.

if you return to first chapters, it is stated that because she seemed inferior to her siblings, other nobles always compared them and insulted her. she then started to become distance and abusive. in a way her father can be blamed for not noticing anything, but a duke has more stuff to do than listening to gossip i guess. sylvia never needed to act like that to her siblings in my opinion, or people who she came across. i don't remember well but she was in a contract with the same spirit and clever as ever?? however she wasn't acknowledged bc of her violent temper

I do think her father and older brother hold the most responsibility though. Children that don’t have their emotional needs/needs for attention and affection met will often show this by throwing tantrums, becoming violent and not knowing how to show and deal with their emotions. Because parents are responsible for teaching children empathy and how to recognise, share and deal with emotions. If a child is never taught how, it is highly unlikely that they will grow up to be functioning adults. It’s worse because Sylvia was also bullied and treated harshly by her surrounding pretty much since she was born which also damages her ability to rationally deal with emotions since the rational part of your brain develops last and will be seriously impacted by any kind of trauma.
