Imagine it like a tight bra it squeezing your boobs so their flat imagine trying breath out of it this lead to many Ed that lead to women life span decreasing. This is nothing like high heals. Many women wore them to bed to shape their bodies also since their bodies aren’t made for this it started to shape their organs and make their lungs get closer together get their heart to smush and etc.
If you put the bra in example, then let's bring the corset to the bra level, OF COURSE a tiny bra would hurt you and feel uncomfortable, but a WELL fitted one would not.
It's really not that hard, stop this corset slander nonsense.
I really have no idea where people like you get this whole "corset facts", from movies? blegh
You can look it up anywhere the ribs would start to break organs will get smushed and it so that body is hard to function. If they wanted a thinner waist with the corset they would eat less and since the corset is so tight it would make it hard to eat a good amount of food.

Here if you don’t believe me
They’re “waist-training” my bro, an inappropriate way of using corsets, corsets are like medieval bras but custom made bc women aren’t the same and tailors had to make sure it really fits the girl and not make them feel weird, only nobles would tighten them a bit more to look slim since working women didn’t need to as they have to work
They didn’t tighten them just a bit tho have you not seen women body after a corset it was not pretty and many women would buy smaller corset to make their waist smaller. The poor ppl wouldn’t have tighten as much but still tighten it they had to do house work all these things in something uncomfortable. The corset were hard not like the ones we have now. Also since they were already eating less they would start to die faster then noble women.
Those were either incorrectly fitted and/or never really taken off, corsets shouldn’t be worn every time as it’ll make your back dependent on them, and if corsets were bad, then why would victorian women climb mountains or even do sports? Keep in mind their food was also very dangerous so the fact they’re malnourished made their waists smaller, also they padded their clothing to make it seem like their waists were really small by putting pads on the hips and bust, if what you said is true, would you mind sending me a link of where you found those pics? Also alot of pics were edited so we cant be sure
Also I been the only one who putting up websites where’s yours
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effects_of_tightlacing_on_the_body#Muscles
“Extended period of time” my dude, victorian women dont wear them from the time they wake up to when they sleep, here’s pics of them http://www.thisvictorianlife.com/photos-of-victorian-women.html heck it says here that they’re mostly targeted to working women to support them, and i here you go https://youtu.be/zNwTqanp0Aw https://youtu.be/rExJskBZcW0 Karolina also listed enough sources in the description so I wont need to send more, now excuse me I have birds to feed
In the video she talked about how she has scoliosis and her brace was kinda like a corset. And I have scoliosis too so I know how it feels. When wearing a brace it’s had to do many things but okay enough I could do it. The corset are similar in shape but not made for shaping your waist but for your spine to shape in the correct position. And she said that in the video that both sides don’t actually know for a fact what corset were doing to the body but medical ppl were figuring it out so I looked off medical ppl and this what I found.

Some of those photos are painfully visible edited, people really think that retouching photos is something new uh, they pretty much painted the negatives or cut it with a knife, so the reveled photos with a black background would look like real.
“The most frequent use of the knife by the professional photographer is to reduce the waist line on pictures of some of their female sitters whose embonpoint may be too apparent,” Camera Magazine noted in 1904.

MYTH: Corsets can break your ribs.
TRUTH: In historical writing, 'broken ribs' referred to broken corset bones, as what we now call the bones of a corset were once called its 'ribs'. Historical writing that speaks of broken ribs should, therefore, be looked at with this in mind; are they talking about the corset wearer, or the corset itself? Probably the latter, in most cases!
While it is true that corsets will compress the lower ribs, the risk of a corset breaking one's ribs is relatively low: if you have weak or brittle bones, you probably should not wear a corset that restricts your ribs as it could increase the chance of them breaking. However, generally speaking, the ribs are designed to be flexible. If they were rigid you would be unable to expand your chest to breathe! The slow impact of cinching in a corset is very unlikely to break them. Rib fractures are caused instead by sudden impact - a sharp blow to the ribs, for example.
A too-small corset, however, may cause uncomfortable or even painful pressure points on the ribs, causing bruises and friction injuries to the skin.
MYTH: Corsets cause extreme compression of and eventually deform the internal organs
TRUTH: While corsets do indeed cause compression - that is after all the point of them - they do not cause lasting damage to the internal organs. Many people bring up historical medical diagrams like this one https://tile.loc.gov/storage-services/service/pnp/ppmsca/02900/02907r.jpg as 'proof', but considering Victorian doctors believed that women could be effected by Hysteria, a condition whereby the uterus would become detached and wander around the body, one should take their 'knowledge' with several pinches of salt. Furthermore, we now have actual, medical, concrete proof that this is not the case!
Recently, a German medical doctor, Eckhart von Hirschhausen, made a series of MRI scans of burlesque dancer Eden Berlin, both uncorseted and wearing a special, non-ferrous corset - that is, a corset that is non-metallic and non-magnetic, and thus suitable to be worn during an MRI scan without endangering the wearer. The idea was to show the effects of tight lacing on the internal organs, with surprising results. The audience expected to find that Eden's lungs would be compromised, and her kidneys and other organs compressed and deformed, but instead it was found that her lungs and kidneys had barely moved, her liver and stomach were only slightly compressed, and her intestinal tract was no more restricted than it would be during pregnancy... and no one is going around telling us how dangerous pregnancy is for the internal organs!
You can read an excellent article with pictures, including Eden's MRI scans, here.
As an aside: corsets CAN reshape your ribs and redistribute the fat under your skin, even when the corset is removed, when worn over a very long period of time, but this is generally a temporary thing and must be maintained. If you stop waist training, your ribs will return to their natural position.

Now, the women who had the MRI done was someone who TIGHT laced on the daily, she is the extreme case, and even like that her organs were NOT deformed

not necessarily a corset but TIGHT-LACING is what you're describing (what the victorian's did)
ppl in the past have been wearing corsets (even farmers, maids, and other labor-intensive work).
they're like bras. corsets also supports your back. it's not as bad as the modern view and media portrays it to be. there are a lot of fashion historians who talked about it in youtube.
ofc it's obviously tight-lacing. but the one i quoted looked like you made it sound like corsets are horrible, when in reality, the stuff you're describing was a only phase and a fashion trend in the 19th century. corsets were used before that. stop making it sound like it's a terrible thing when it's not.
In all honesty corsets were not as bad as people make it out to be. I like to compare it to high heels. Lots of ppl did it, it was uncomfortable for many but some ppl got used to it or didn't mind. Some took it to the extreme (think 8 inches or something) and some didn't do it at all. And some actually liked it. The issue comes when ppl were forced to wear it weather they wanted to or not.
