Even though it was Ardalte who first met the girl and brought her home eventually he realized that he didn't mind sharing her with his twin but actually what hurt him was sharing his twin with her(and I dont mean it necessarily in a romantic way... Love has many shapes and forms) and the baby's eye color (indicating that the father is Ardolte) was the last stroke. They were a whole family and Ardalte couldn't fit in anymore. "The only one I love is you" "So only by parting can we keep loving each other, as seperate souls" his parting words broke me... And also his brother naming the kid Ardalte. I think this is enough to show that he also really loved him ╥﹏╥ It's honestly kinda twisted but Idk my heart broke for all three. Cause the girl also eventually has to raise the kid on her own since Ardolte died.
