Have you read "Three Lifetimes" ? Not all of it is historical (since it's three different lifetimes) but I really enjoyed it. It just so happens that it was what I read after finishing Kusuriya no Hitorigoto and being in a slump like you are right now, so maybe you'll enjoy it too :)
