From what I understand, Jimin wasn't trans. He was just feminine. Growing up, he had it hard because of that. His schoolmates would bully him and call him gay. His sexuality wasn't defined in the story at all. But because he was petite and had a high-pitched voice, he found it easier to live as a girl. And when he fell in love with Hyunwoo, he was pressured by society's standards. Hence, why he wished he was a girl instead so that he can be with him.
Also, this is just my assumption, but I think Jimin is just gender fluid.
