I think you are overthinking, Jaemin isn’t saint but in the start he wasn’t manipulative he just wanted to be friend with Daon, and can you say me when Jaemin helped Daon parents ? I don’t remember it, and he’s not fault that he likes Soohyun, and I think Soohyun in the deep of his heart actually likes Jaemin too, no Jaemin doesn’t like Daon as a lover, I don’t think so, just their relationship is so twisted they even dated before I’m sure Daon will end up Sunghyeoon he’s the best boy, Daon doesn’t deserve him and he actually isn’t good brother too at least he can helps his sister who is working too, it was interesting to read your comment but I’m just thinking you are really overthinking, just don’t blame Jaemin and just wait for his own perspective to see it, I don’t understand why do you only blame Jaemin? The chapter where he helps Daon's sister is ch24 but Daon is aware so that's my bad sorry i thought he wasn't there. But that's still pushing boundaries which is iffy.
I don't blame Jaemin ONLY, i just think we can't trust him but i also completely blame Soohyun for his violence and his whims. I also want to believe Jaemin started out with good intentions but you can't say that his behavior NOW is innocent. I was just theorizing tbh so yeah overthinking was the point. I really wasn't trying to put the blame only on Jaemin, but his RELATIONSHIP with both Daon and Soohyun is what's causing harm, not the person in himself (at least for now) so i don't think it's unreasonable to treat it like the root of the situation, objectively.
Could you point me out where it's said or confirmed that Jaemin likes Soohyun? Because i think it might be true but i don't think it's in the manhwa either. It was just said that Jaemin and Soohyun used to date but tbh there was no mention of Jaemin's or Soohyun's feelings to my recollection.
Also i don't understand what you mean by Daon noy being innocent? Him "hanging up (you meant hanging out?) with the person Jaemin likes" he's literally being coerced and blackmailed..... Damn i remember reading the first few chapters when they came out and since im impatient and don't like love triangles i dropped it but im so glad i picked it up
To be honest i don't like Jaemin. He, as an older man, has made Daon rely emotionally as well as financially on him at a point where he was extremely vulnerable (a teenager, in dire need of money and emotional support his family couldn't provide) to the point where he made him completely dependent even 10 years later. He also continues to help Daon's family financially without the latter knowing, he won't let him use his own money around him and basically consistently invests obscene amounts of money on him, takes his affection for granted and acts too much like a saint to be trusted. The leverage all of this gives him is a bad sign, and he is most likely using Daon's well-meaning feelings of being indebted to him, to keep him close. We don't really know what Jaemin's motivations are, and it's true that he was a big help in Daon's life, but surely this kind of excessive doting when you're not even related becomes toxic at some point. It seemed innocuous at first but it's obvious a relationship this long with money involved was bound to become an unbalanced power dynamic with potential for manipulation. And look! now He has him wrapped around his finger.
What i think is happening is : Despite having the reputation of just doing whatever he wants and being a player, Soohyung actually likes Daon in his own twisted way, which is why he's doing all that shit to him. But Daon likes Jaemin, which Soohyung is aware of, so he wants to keep them apart too by not letting the two meet and being all up in Jaemin's business as if the two were actually romantically involved again after college. And maybe because he knows Jaemin also has some nasty things to hide. Now, Jaemin has also always known about Daon's crush on him but never did anything about it. I don't exactly know why : i think maybe he doesn't like him romantically, he just wants the devotion and sth about having power over him idk or maybe it's mutual but something is blocking him from acting on their feelings. Or maybe he actually likes Soohyung but knows Soohyung likes Daon lol idk ??? So Jaemin also wants to protect Daon from Soohyung's abusive behavior by using the exact same tactic ie keeping close to the latter now and even going as far as dating him back in college maybe (and maybe bc he benefits from being close w Soohyung if he likes him bruh this is getting too complicated i need a chart).
So Daon is being manipulated from every side while thinking that Jaemin and Soohyun are back to dating not knowing he's actually been the target all along lol... Which is heartbreaking because his biggest support (Jaemin) might be the primary reason for this situation and to actually get out of it he would have to cut ties with him (which i hope he does). It's obvious the puzzle is missing some pieces regarding their past, especially regarding Jaemin, his motivations and his relationship with Soohyung and i can't wait for the plot to unfold.
And then there's best boy Sunghyeon lol he's such a loveable character i hope he gets a happy ending.
edit : just noticed Soohyun isn't on the cover which is weird so maybe my theory is false and Soohyun is actually in love with Jaemin lol
