the neighbor

Apparently I am the only one who doesn't think the neighbor is a bad guy ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
I actually believe that he has simply been with Kachou since forever, that he is crazy in love with him and that he is just trying to monopolize him, which makes me feel sad for him to be honest :(

SPOILERS:

Thankfully, he has his own spin-off: https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=133747
I am doing my happy dance right now ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆

The sly eyes, the scheming, the manipulating, the possessiveness--it's a misdirection. But he could have gone either way, plotwise, as I put in a comment yesterday--either he's in love and wildly jealous or he's a sadist and controller. I'm glad he's not a sadist. :D But when you separate someone from the person who makes them feel happy, safe, and at peace, that makes you a "bad guy" in a kind of way.

Well, I do get why his actions and words in the previous chapter didn't help to make a great impression to us readers. That's why, in my comment, I didn't write "I think he is a great guy" but I wrote "I don't think he is a bad guy". And for me there is a difference between those two.
Of course there was a huge possibility that he would turned out to be an monster and that I was the one miscalculating him (I am glad that's not the case, though. I really like him now :) )
That being said, you are right, to "separate someone from the person who makes them feel happy, safe, and at peace" isn't something anyone should be proud of doing. But to be fair, when you fall in love, you become selfish. You want the person you love to be happy, but you want them to be happy with you, you want them to be happy because of you, cause deep down you want them to make you happy as well. Of course that's egoistic and not applaudable but it's also very human. I mean, anyone who falls in love feels and (maybe) acts that way, at some point and level ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
So to summarize, I know his signals didn't make him look as one of the greatest characters ever drawn in the yaoi world, but for me they didn't make him look that hateful either. He simply looked like a flawed human to me...
    I don't know... I am over-analyzing things again ( ̄∇ ̄")
p.s. thank you very much for your reply and sorry for my long response! I always enjoy reading other yaoi fan's opinions (●'◡'●)ノ

Except he was "the bad guy" until he realized he was just that and stopped and wen tto help them get back together. He's not a full-out monster, but in this story, he has been the bad guy/interloper/selfish-divider. The selfishness that says "me, me" over someone's true love and mental health made him bad. But now, he's learned, grown, and we hope is happy, too. :D

Never apologize for a long response. I love it when folks can discuss things on here. :D Disagreeing is a-okay, as long as it's polite, right?

I do believe that the most interesting and constructive conversations are made with polite people who have different opinions than you, so I agree with you :) I know reading yaoi is just a hobby but sometimes there are so many things to gain and learn while discussing them!!!
Back to our topic, I think we might have a different definition for who we call a "bad guy" in this situation. I think I use it more like a "bad, ill willed person" in general, when I sense you use it more like "the bad character, plot-wise, who will cause the necessary trouble for our story to develop". Correct me if I am wrong though...
As for him being selfish, as I mentioned in my previous response, I agree that he acted egoistically, but I still find it a predictable, human behavior. Certainly, a mistake but not something strong enough for me to label him as someone bad.
And in his defense, he didn't know that he was Kachou's true love in the beginning. He just thought he was like one of the girls Kachou had until now. Once he realized that, that wasn't the case, he stepped back.
So in general, he gives me the impression of a heartbroken, a little bit damaged, but sensitive and caring person ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ Let's not forget that the abuse his brother suffered, affected him as well...
    I don't know... Maybe I too soft with human flaws sometimes ( ̄∇ ̄")
