guys, if a male concubine treated wangfei that way he would've gotten slapped by wangye anyway, dont come here and spout nonsense now. sure, wangye could do that because his status/the era hes in gave him the authority to do so, but in this very specific case its not really about gender, it's about disrespecting his wangfei, plus you have to consider that wangye knows that concubine won't hesitate to abandon him in the "future", so his thought process must have been something like: how dare this undeserving snake mistreat my beloved, the only person who's always/ will always be on my side? fuck off
