Exactly, people can talk about whatever they want to talk about! End of story
That's right~
After looking at your comment plus others it got me thinking. I do wonder why people have such strong reactions, anything negative when it comes to manga, sometimes even calling the author or people who read it messed up.
For example when I read a novel. Which some I've read are a ton more messed up than this. People usually react with more critical thinking
wondering why the fictional characters think this way, or what is this leading to.
I dun think anyone called the authors messed up, even if they did seem like they're implying it, there's an element of consideration when they hear sound points from other fans. Now the debate has transitioned from the whole Rape is wrong to the responsibilities of using the rape trope for quality not quantity. I think everyone here is generally moving in a direction of understanding and the people who newly commented about the issue isn't bashing in caste heaven anymore, they said the tropes are fine but are wanting to tackle the larger issue prevalent in the yaoi world. I like the fact that the discussions are going on. Faith in 'hue-manatee' restored
I'm honestly happy to see all the debates in the comments. Usually I see people posting stuff and wonder if they get that the relationships are fucked up or if they're actually rooting for the relationship as if it isn't problematic. Or if they are actually taking the story seriously and not treating it purely as porn. So I'm actually pretty happy to see that people do care about rape and its troublesome history within yaoi. Also I'm happy to see that people are able to distinguish between fantasy and reality. I know a lot of young/adolescent people frequent this site and sometimes the comments I see are pretty scary. So its pretty cool that everyone gets that manga tropes are problematic and are able to appreciate the story for what it is.
