They're better off living separate lives tbh.
What I know about their dynamics:
*Emperor- has a duty to his nation. He has to marry the princess to unite their 2 countries. He just recently conquered her country. To quell the people, he needs her to be Empress. But it will only be an empty title as he never had the intention to give her power, make her carry his child or whatnot.
*MC- has major abandonment issues. She took the full brunt of her father's infidelity towards her mother. Her mother went insane from jealousy and rejected MC too. She wants to be the only woman in his life, thus she resorts to physical abuse towards the other concubines.
They both cannot provide what the other needs. I think the novel ending was better.

Yes I agree I rage read the whole thing. It’s frustrating and they should just split. It was hard to read because I really did feel bad for the female lead. I kept getting frustrated because the damn emperor couldn’t figure out his feeling.
Let me just say reading the raws like it is a picture book because I don't understand but not done yet. I couldn't wait but I'm going to reread it here later on. Very Mad man I hate the male lead with all my heart. He can die for all I care. I want the female lead to live and have a happy life. He doesn't deserve here. I feel so bad for her. I just want her to find someone else to love.
