I could be totally wrong but shojo is MEANT for girls but it doesn't always have to be about a girl protagonist falling in love (●'◡'●)ﾉ
shoujo usually have female Mc, sailormoon, CCs,etc were the prime example for shoujo, shounen will always have male Mc, even if it's telling a story about slice of life or romance from male perspective.
Lol there's shoujo like natsume's book of friends, gakuen babysitters, banana fish, nijiro days exists which have male protagonists. Shoujo just means 'for girls' the protagonists def can be a male
Nope shoujo doesn't have to be female MC, it's just a genre of story that meant for young girls

Why theres shoujo on the genre list? Shoujo is a genre when the protagonist have to be a Girls, and usually it will include romance as well, if the protagonist is a young male the correct genre should be shounen.
