Well... if you know what what happened to him when he was just a couple of years older than her... then you would get why he gets anxiety when someone tries to touch him. I guess, he still tries to forget the past but he can't forget... Imagine a little boy that looks like Abby holding a baby, traumatized and alone. Blaming himself and trying to close his heart.
