Not your fault this story really doesnt make much sense, honestly. Characters do follow some plot "logic" but the logic followed is illogical. The very idea to force him to marry the girl is nonsense and other nonsense things just pile up after so...you probably understanding everything just fine problem is it doesnt make sense.
