Me too. I had to re-read it. So what I got so far was, the guy, Qin Qingzi was serving to protect his master, mistress, and their daughter. He was able to save the daughter but she found out her parents died so she committed suicide.

He was left alone and prob want to do the same until some voice(?)/one said he must live on.. and 1 year passed and I am assuming it is the same guy and he is searching for the person that saved him.
