They did. Haven't you read the manga since the beginning? That's basically the whole plot. They were a couple in highschool and because of a misunderstanding they divided. The at work they met each other again, takano is still in love with onodera and onodera is also still in love but doesn't want to accept it because of the misunderstanding in the past.
