That's because we've been seeing everything from the Female lead's perspective and the female lead (when she read the novel) saw the villainese's perspective. It's clear that Regis can't express his feelings at all. So his care and affections weren't noticed because of their subtlety. The villainese started to think her father doesn't like her and she gradually stopped trying. And since the female lead read the story from that perspective, she thinks that the villainese was hated by everyone including Regis. There was no misunderstanding but they didn't understand each other either. As for why he gave her a knife, it was probably for protection. We'll know about it in the future chapters
((this is just my confusion, don't take it to heart)
i'm still confused on how her father treat his daughter with so much cruel in the past when he actually loves her???? was it also a misunderstanding? lol it's just doesnt make sense how a parent could make a minsunderstanding to his own daughter when they're literally living together in the same house? was there really no time for you can approach and show some affection to her in all those years???
if the main case was a misunderstanding or he just awkward on showing his love, i'll be mad. unless he have his own REASON on how he treat his daughter all this time.
i mean, you gave a KNIFE to your own daughter when she was about to go to jail for her lifetime and he DOESN'T give any explanation at all? was it just natural for her to commit suicide in that situation? even though maybe the father gave a knife for her to survive? i just don't understand.
sorry for my rambling and my bad english lol i just think i need to do this since this has been my curiosity since the beginning.
