I understand you completely.
It's just that as a reader. I have watch Eijun grow and experience many things.
I overreact because the author of this manga seems to put Furuya on a pedestal with his so called acknowledged monstrous ball that I think Eijun seems to be nearly forgotton. Furuya probably has as much chapter dedicated to him and his growth as Eijun. Probably more since Furuya is the ace pitcher.
I don't know what to hope... Furuya playing bad? Even if I do hope for it to happen, I don't think Eijun will satisfied. He probably want to defeat Furuya fair and square.
I hate seeing Eijun struggling so much to be an ace even if it's needed for his growth, when on the other side, Furuya seems to never face any significance problems [not that I remember. Enlightened me please]. Furuya got to debut as a pitcher in the early days even before Eijun. Furuya got to be an ace immediately in his second year and be called monstrous rookie. All the while Eijun is struggling not only for his number but also his past mental trauma and his other weakness. I hate when I got to read only 2 chapter of Eijun throwing in a game while I got to read 4-5 chapter of Furuya playing in the same game. I hate the feeling that Furuya storyline slowly overshadowed Eijun storyline. I always have to make myself remember that Eijun is the main character and at the end of the day Eijun will be the hero. But, sadly, it wasn't always the case. Eijun has his up and down too.
I respect your opinion and in more way than one, I do agree with you. I just feel bitter because I'm afraid that the author will made Furuya conquer his recent problems and be stronger than ever instead of failing or playing bad. I'm afraid that Furuya will play so welll that it will further ensure him as the best pitcher. Because, well, let's admit it, the author of this manga seems to favor Furuya a lot. I hate to endure another 100+ chapter of Eijun struggling while Furuya be the king of the mound.
Team Eijun always.
I hope you aren't mad because I just want to present my point of view and the reason I'm so against Furuya as the starting pitcher. I think there are some if not many between all of us, reader, who share my point of view.
I totally understand your frustration about how the story is progressing. Anyone can see that in this manga it feels like Furuya is the main character -_- and I feel the bitterness you feel. Honestly every time I open a new chapter I feel like a mother who wants her child to be chosen to play in the matches ┗( T﹏T )┛
The main reason i wrote my previous comment is cuz people are talking bad about Miyuki even though i think his intentions are for the good of the team since he is the catcher and the captain. People are acting like he did not practice with Eijun that day, in fact people ignored the fact that Miyuki dismissed Furuya in the middle of the practice session and even gave him a stern warning that if he was not careful he might lose the starting position to Eijun.
Yes I do agree that Eijun would want to beat Furuya at his best thats why I do hope that the reason the coach put Furuya as the starter is because he wants Eijun to pitch in the later innings ≥∼≤ as a strategy to win... That Furuya would not mess up but gets replaced to ensure victory. But yes as a reader who loved Eijun from the beginning to forever I also really hoped that Eijun was the starter but since that did not happen I choose to think optimistically because I honestly think that Eijun is doing really well as a pitcher. The ability to control the break of his pitch is an amazing thing and honestly fast pitches like Furuya's can be practiced by opponent batters using machines and once a player is used to a level of speed its not as amazing as you think it is... and I think that why they lost in the nationals.
Hahaha Joan no worries, honestly I am quite happy that you took the time to read and reply to me. Actually I'm very happy to be able to discuss with other people about Diamond no ace and have a friendly discussion (sadly my sister is not into sports anime and manga so can't talk to her). In fact I don't disagree with the things you pointed out. I think the difference is that I don't think that being the starter is big deal cuz I think the later innings are the important ones and are the crucial moments in the match that a coach really thinks about before choosing the pitcher and of course I hope that pitcher will be Eijun (≧∀≦)
And like you I'm team Eijun all the way ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ
You're right in a lot of way...
About Miyuki... Well... that's how he really is... Miyuki care about Eijun in a lot of different way. The author just doesn't show us for example Miyuki and Eijun special off season training session.
Thruthfully, I do agree that Furuya current condition make Miyuki concern about him and the game. Furuya being the ace, just a little mistake he made that was caused by his bad mood probably will affect the whole game and the whole team. Miyuki probably realize too that Furuya take every lose the team had so far into his own shoulder. That's probably why Miyuki and the coaches put Furuya as the starter and Miyuki said "to lessen Furuya burden" at the end of the current chapter. That's showed how much Miyuki care about Furuya being the ace pitcher.
On the contrary, Miyuki have confidence that even if he broke his promise with Eijun, it will be alright, he can always make up for it later. Eijun will always forgive him. Furthermore, the only one who can handle Eijun best ball is only him. Eijun will come back to him. Plus, Eijun is a bright child. Miyuki confidence in handling Eijun, I think it comes from both Miyuki and Eijun strong connection. They probably has spent a lot of time training exclusively together [that we don't know and isn't showed to us]. Miyuki just don't showed it too much. He probably doesn't want Eijun to feel too proud. But really, I think that different with Furuya, Miyuki is closer with Eijun and understand Eijun nature well. Just like a friend or a comrade or a partner would. Although, Miyuki loves to tease little Eijun.
Haha Joan you hit the mark
You totally articulately described what I think and feel about the relationship Miyuki holds with Eijun and Furuya o(≧▽≦)o
Yes, Miyuki and Eijun's interactions are always something to look forward. To me they are friends. You can see how they encourage, joke around, how Miyuki teases and their mischivious side especially during matches where they'll grin like they are about to pull a fast one on their opponents (^∇^)
I really wanted to see the special training Eijun and Miyuki did
Plus I think appearance of Okumura is something we can really look forward to in the future. You can see how Miyuki keeps on taunting him and how he falls for it every time. Also I really look forward for more Okumura and Eijun moments (((o(*゚▽゚*)o))) I can see another catching machine Eijun can use instead of Miyuki
I believe the reason as to why a lot of people over reacted was because of what Miyuki said "It's a request from *Ace-sama*". Though we (i) can see that Miyuki didn't mean it in any other way- You can still take what he said out of context. The 'Ace-sama' was bolded implying that other pitchers don't get that privilege. And considering how the mangaka favours Furuya a lot in this series it's not hard to get worked up with what Miyuki said. ESPECIALLY if you're in Team Eijun.
@joan
I'm sure that we'll get to see that flashback- it's probably when Sawamura gets subbed in and we'll see him kick some Ichidai-bums <3 and hurray he gets noticed; the crowd goes wild. Terajima-sensei will most likely show us some flashbacks when Sawamura starts pitching.
Totally understand that the line can be seen as a negative thing but we don't really know since we can't hear the intonation when he said the line especially the ace-sama part... cuz if you look at it another way he could have said it in a sarcastic way... since we do know that Miyuki is giving Eijun time especially during their 'special training' (we did not see ヽ(`Д´)ノ)
we'll never really know.... open for interpretation -_-
Hahaha I do wish Eijun get to pitch in this game and kick their bums, when he does I swear I wanna see the ishidai coach's face. (/T▽T)/
I honestly think that people overreacted with Miyuki catching for Furuya first when he promised Sawamura...
I know he promised but I think the reason why he did that is because he his concerned about Furuya's performance. He IS doing well but he is blinded by determination that he doesn't work together with Miyuki when pitching. http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/diamond_no_ace_act_2/bt/6862e5dbcee4145b/Ch33/pg-15/
The main reason why Miyuki put Furuya first was to ask the question he did ask in chapter 35. He had so many reason as to why he should be concerned with Furuya's state of mind because:
1-Miyuki is the catcher
2-he is the captain
3- he wants the team to win
4-Furuya is the ace of the team -_-
This is just my theory please no one bite me...(⊙…⊙ )
I think Furuya is gonna have bad performance in the upcoming chapters. As Miyuki says he is running in emotions while pitching (chp 35).Maintaining a cool head with determination to keep on fighting is important in every sport, full of emotion can be really bad on an athlete's performance... ( ̄へ ̄)
I think the reason why coach decided to put in Furuya as the starter pitcher is to assess in the early innings if he will perform up to his standard. Which I think will not go so well for Furuya or maybe it will... But my theory is that the coach wants Eijun to pitch for the later innings(๑•ㅂ•)و✧
Because if Eijun started and they replace him with Furuya he cannot go back as a pitcher once replaced (as per rules unless if furuya is put as a relief pitcher -_- and Eijun is put in as a fielder- meanings is not taken out of the game - can only be done once per inning) Please if i interpreted the rules of baseball incorrectly pls do correct me but try to be nice (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
Since Furuya's state is questionable he decided to puut Furuya as the starter pitcher so that Eijun is not lost in the later innings because he was replaced by Furuya. Which means the coach decided to trust Eijun to replace Furuya when he messes up and for the later innings (⌒▽⌒)
GOOO EIJUN!!!!!!
OKOMURA U ARE SOOOO CUTE!!!
ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ
haha that was quite long :P
