He ends up treating her the best and protecting her and having faith in her and treating her well, he's on guard because so many are after his life so he was suspicious of her but once he betterbunderstands she isn't sent to harm him and begins to like her he really shows he's different than the others that treated her horribly her whole life.

adding on to this i feel like he's the only one who can truly sympathize with penelope. i saw a comment that really explained this well, both misunderstood and mistreated, and had labels slapped on to them before they could even explain themselves (not like they would listen or actually believe them in the first place). he's really the only one who actually supports and stays by penelope's side t/o the entire novel

Let's face it. They love him because he is portrayed as the most hottest best looking one and the only best option for the struggling FL... At the end he has transformed into the ideal attractive gentleman.

I don't think except for that one first time he has ever done something as bad as you said. But I haven't read the full novel yet so I may not be aware , however even in that one time at the beginning we can understand that he was doing it for his own survival as he was repeatedly and often targeted by enemies, he was protecting himself just as the fl lead is protecting herself but in a different method than him.
May I ask if you read the novel? Cause I think you are judging him so much when in the manhwa we haven't even been told a lot about him.
I have read past this arc that is starting with the hunting competition so I may not have the right to say much but from what I read I would say that he is by far the best one from the targets( well in my opinion )

The author wrote it so that Callisto is the only best option and that Penelope needs a man/FL to heal or get stronger. There are even no other equals she can call real reliable friends.

I aknowledge his character development in the novel but it doesn't sit right with me that MLs like him only start changing after they harmed the FL they personally regard as interesting unique object regardless of their reasons...

callisto since childhood has always been targeted by assassins from his own family. so he was taught from a very young age that it's either kill or be killed in order to protect himself. that's also why he's very suspicious of penelope at first bc he thinks she's an assassin sent to kill him. but when he finds out she's not he starts to reveal who he really is and is really the only one who stays by her side t/o the entire novel. anyways basically callisto is the best ml out of everyone else :D

And I understand why Callisto has fans that find him very appealing.
He is obviously the only best thing that happened to the FL even though he nearly killed her.

But to me he is the typically entitled arrogant cruel Alphahole you can find in many Romance related Novels/Stories.
The FL often has to survive him or endure hardship and suffering caused by the ML.

I never liked the scenario where the superior powerful jerk threatens the struggling victimized scared girl/lady. She somehow catches his interests and he begans to bother her despite trying to avoid him or distance from him.
How is this a good healthy power dynamic?

I get that why he behaves like that and that he becomes more sweet towards her in the following arcs but the logic that you will develop feelings for the guy who almost took your life, scares you and harassed you which can give you a serious trauma...
That can't be right.

To be honest, excuses or sad tragic background infos for Bloodthirsty Tyrant MLs don't work on me anymore...

It put me off that after he almost killed Penelope and it was afterwards clear that she wasn't an assassin, he is forcefully wanting to get close her despite seeing her discomfort and her already signaling she doesn't want anything to do with him.

She is strong against the shitty family and servants but weak towards the ML/Prince

Thanks. I get where you come from and I respect your opinion but I still stand with my own. I mean compared to other scumbags that I've seen before to me he just seems as a normal person that is trying his best at survival.

I mean let's be honest we know our fl is a badass and if she was in his situation with the same past and everything I think she would have done the same thing as him ( probably me as well ).

And I quite get the trauma bit, but in a sense you could say that even him could have developed a type of trauma and habit because of his lifestyle, so I don't think you can really blame him. It's just in his nature to be on guard and arrogant as to protect himself to not show any weakness, and of course because of this he had hurted our fl.

I think in the end we can have both sides being the truth to real life reality.

I also think that fl was able to fall in love with him,forgetting about the near kill thing, because in a way she understands him ( well probably after finding everything out?) She understands the pain and struggle of trying to survive each day by any means possible both in her previous and current lifetime, so I don't think it's too far fetched for her to love him especially when he was the only person to actually care about her

Well I would say that that is usually how they become a tyrant because of what they have gone through and their will to survive just as our fl; being cold and antagonistic because of the things that she has suffered.

I don't really know what to say about him forcing to communicate with her. I would probably interpret it as his curiosity of wanting to know someone that said they "love" him; as it was something new he never experienced before

And I would say that she is more afraid of him than the rest 1. Of course because of what happened in the garden and 2. He is of royalty and known as a tyrant, so she can't simply act like she wants as it could be taken in a way as treason , sooooo.....of course she would be scared ..... especially since in the game she played she always died at the crown prince's scenes, however this was not a game but real life for her.
