Rut, from what I learned from reading manga, is like a moment of time your lover has lost interest and the norm. is not really working.
Most think that something extreme is the key to ending it, but talking about it is probably better.
Isn't rut from "routine" ??
If someone is stuck in a rut it just means that they are doing something(sex, food, work, etc) the same way all the time until it becomes boring and routine, and you lose interest in it and you end up doing it only for the sake of doing it.
