He did also think of him as a son in the past, but the thing was in the novel. This job as a servant was souly for cover up, he did not feel the need to stay by his side, nor actually ask permissions for certain things because he didnt see him as a master. But it doesn't mean he didn't think of him as a son because he even knows more about him rather than his own son, and also still takes care of him despite seeing as a brat as well.

i forgot to ask before but was ron's intentions with cale before, the same with the cale now? i mean, someone spoiled me that ron is just like that with cale because he kinda thinks of him as his son but is that what he thought of too with the cale from before?
