True! It makes so much sense. I also realised it when I re-read it.
I re-read this again and i just realized how much hints the uke dropped. He isn't trash, he liked kaga but he knew he never stood a chance bcs kaga sleeps with so many ppl.
"Is it the usual married girl?"
"Well see ya later, don't play too much with youngsters"
"What about you, kaga san? Are u still doing that married woman and engineer guy?"
"What? Huh? Or is it the college student? Just how many ppl are you doing?
He felt really defeated, he thought kaga would never be able to fall in love and just stay as a good-for-nothing but he was shocked to hear he had a girlfriend (despite him knowing kaga for much longer but never stood a chance).
Hate me but this is how i honestly feel about the story
