I mean just because it's accurate doesn't make it any less disgusting, it's like if back then licking an old man's teeth is a form of greeting them, it doesn't mean I wouldn't be weirded out and repulsed by it, I think people are surprised the author is trying to make a hot or cute scene when they know dirt of this level is highly repulsed by modern people, it's a common and understandable reaction what's Nast will always be nasty no matter when it took place
I know you guys are not talking about sanitation when this takes place in like the 1700's or earlier
