If anyone's wondering, it's from the end of chapter 14!
He basically said that it's impossible to "cage" in a relationship a girl like her, plus he believes that he has some kind of curse so it won't do any good to fall in love, that's what he meant in that chapter

Wait i don't quite understand about the flapping the wings in the birdcage idiom(?), i've been trying to comprehend it in various ways but my braincells are slowly dying one by one.
