Well I'm not sure about the manhua (since it seems to NOT want to follow the novel) but Claude was supposed to be whacked with the world tree a long time ago. And yadda yadda he wakes up. After being hit, he remembers everything from this timeline and the timeline where "anathansia" dies. After remembering so much, Claude goes hysterical and screams out "anathansia's" name. But the one he's calling out to seems to be the dead one.
Oh yeah, the only reason that Claude treated Athy coldy in the first lifetime was because of the spell he put on himself. In the third timeline (the current one) Athy ended up meeting Claude way before the spell could take place. Hence why they have a better relationship in this timeline.
(I've read all these spoilers from a person who mtled the entire novel. I really wished that the manhua had added the school arc. We would've gotten so much Lucas and Athy moments)
