I think it’s bc he needed help to settle, realistically he doesn’t seem to have people to help him financially— like how would he even be able to become a fisher if he doesn’t have the funds for a boat? And there’s always the chance someone goes hunting for him again, so I guess having Harada know his location could somewhat serve for protection.
I think this ending is also okay but a more fitting ending in my opinion would have been for him to tatally ignore Harada, disappear without a word.. Go somewhere Harada will never find him or get information about him.. Let that selfish bastard stew in regret and never ending yearning
