i don't know if this was done on purpose or not but it really feels like mafuyu is portrayed as a person not ready to move on to the next relationship yet. i understand that the point of the story is that yuki will always be around him, how when someone's gone they're not really gone, how you can never truly move on completely from someone you loved etc etc and the whole "acceptance of loss" is obviously portrayed well through the songs but again it just doesn't seem like he's accepted it to the point where he can be in a relationship so quickly. whether this is shown on purpose as a conflict to be resolved or is just bad writing i feel like we can't know for sure until the story is done.

Yes. And Yuki being portrayed as Mafuyu's soulmate makes Uenoyama just a rebound guy. We all get Yuki's importance. We get it. It's not easy to forget a deceased soulmate. And Mafuyu being a person who isn't good at communicating his feelings doesn't help. He loves Ue but if he can't assert and resolve his feelings, I'm afraid Ue's feelings wouldn't be reciprocated 100%. If this goes bad, the new boyfriend will just feel insecure or that he's not enough. That no matter what he does, he will always be compared to the old bf by the mc and his friends etc. And that feeling sucks. You slowly lose your confidence. I hope Ue is emotionally and mentally strong enough to remain at Mafuyu's side even the pressure is tormenting him. The strenght that Yuki failed to have. This is why I'm not a huge fan of romance stories with dead rivals. You feel bad for both guys. I hope we get to see Ue's point of view next time.
