Yeah it was the diary. He was annoyed that his wife was so perfect and had no faults but the diary made him realize that the reason she was so 'perfect' was because the abuse she went through. I think that's what made him feel regretful because he also played a part in her abuse

I don't think I kinda get it. What was the 'eureka' of the male lead to finally realize the loss? A diary? Well.... If he was the type of not caring even a dying person, why did he suddenly fell pity and sympathy for a person cuz of a diary to the point of wanting to die?
