you said it! i think conforming to social norms is even more prevalent in Japanese society too since over there being an "otaku" is basically the same as being a complete social outcast while in other countries it is just more of an idiosyncrasy. i dunno why but that's just how it is i guess.
This is cute. But I disagree with a lot of the comments here. I feel like it shows the fears of being ostracized by society, and how some people overcome it more easily than others. I'm sure many other people usually go with the group because they don't want to be seen as weird, even if it's something as petty as liking fritos over lays. I know a lot of people who claim that fritos are nasty, but I think they are pretty good. Kinda got side tracked lol but I hope you get the point. (=・ω・=)
