Honestly, I understand both arguments but, at the end of the day, one person supporting the author by getting official translations isn't going to change the fact that thousands of people are still reading the content FOR FREE. I get that with official translations, the author gets some sort of money, but it's barely enough, considering how much of a big cut Lezhin gets and how many people are pirating their work. In my opinion, I believe that no matter what type of translation gets uploaded, the author still suffers at the end of the day. This is what I think Mari was trying to get across. Anyways, even though pirating is bad, it does bring more attention to the work, which ends up with some pirates either actually paying for it or buying merchandise. Let's be real, if it wasn't for piracy and fan translations, anime and manga wouldn't have gotten so big in the first place. Instead of sitting here and arguing about illegal activity, I think it would be best to either suck it up or go actually read it on the website. Also, good on you for buying chapters on Lezhin.

Yes you're correct, but what I was trying to say is at least the author makes some sort of income by them buying the actual chapters. Even if it's just a little bit, I'd still prefer the option that benefits the author. Yes fan translations are nice, but me and others prefer the original. Which is what I was trying to say in the first place, thats the reason people are mad. It's a matter of preference, some people prefer the original because it's higher quality and benefits the author (not a lot because it's being uploaded on an illegal site but at least a little bit), and others prefer fan translations. I cant tell you why others prefer them seeing as I'm not one of those people and haven't seen anyone saying why they do, so sorry for that. You're right with it barley being enough, but atleast it's something?

Yeah, I get what you mean. It's nothing wrong with having a preference but, getting all up in arms about something that's highly illegal regardless is weird to me. I'm not excusing you of that but, I've seen people raging about it and it confuses me. You're just as guilty as the fan translators, what gives you the right to judge them when you're doing the same? In my opinion, it doesn't matter what gets uploaded because, at the end of the day, I still get to read it. Even if I had the money to support the author, I have a serious issue with Lezhin taking the majority of the author's money. I don't know if I can seriously support a website that cheats its writers. To me, both situations are morally gray because, at the end of the day, you're mostly supporting the company, not the author itself. Other than that, I'd love to support the author in a way that I can ensure most of my money gets to them.

Yeah, I get it. In my opinion, I just think it's weird to argue about an illegal activity that everyone here is participating in it. In the author's eyes, a pirate is a pirate. There is no such thing as a "good" pirate. They won't read these comments attacking fans translators and be like "wow, they are so nice for ensuring that I get money from this ONE translator~!" Regardless of how much you love their work, they are going to be disheartened that you aren't paying them. There are some that might be understanding, while there are others that have no tolerance for piracy. All I have to say is that if you're a pirate, stop attacking people for pirating.
