I believe he is the duke son and to be the next emperor if ever the crown prince dies by the curse and he is also the ml of the original novel that ancia got reimcarnated in
richard is the reincarnation of emperor philip.
i fucking hate emperor philip because of what he did to laontel (which is also ancia ). emperor philip was very obsessed with laontel and even use serphania(the goddess) and her power to spread a plague which killed rakshul (the crown prince in the past, which is also blake and the lover of laontel back then). philip said that he only loves laontel. that's why he betrayed the serphania and then philip got her powers. ser cursed his future descendants and i swear he's a psycho because he keeps killing his own children because of the curse. ser was also sealed up. also, philip locked up laontel with him saying that she should be his empress but she's rejecting him. and that's why in the recent chapter in the novel, richard felt a huge urge that ancia was really for him. hdkchks i recommend y'all to read the novel!!
