Basically, Chris was used to spy on ilyan for the sick pervert and ilyan found out. That’s why he said Chris at the end
So we now know that the low-life James Taylor used to stalk Ilyan's father when they were younger before he married Helen and made a name for himself. Basically what Ilyan's father was saying was that now that James is a big-shot, he can't personally stalk the person of his obsession, aka Ilyan, so he's been stalking him through Chris.
