It’s like they are going through a second puberty. Shun as someone that is repulsed by, and rebels against, the bodily & social changes assaulting him, and Yuka as someone that has slight trepidation regarding them but also develops excitement over exploring this new plain of prairie. The following comment will likely contain ¡¡¡SPOILERS!!!
Let’s start with Shun. Before his case of isomerism (someone else in the comments gives an interesting tidbit over the authors decision to call it isomerism) he had already begun to suffer from self loathing and depression that was getting progressively worse. After he umm... develops (isn’t known yet how they ‘get’ isomerism) his depression deepens by way of his increased self loathing via his body dysphoria & social dysphoria. Not only that, but prior to his isomerism Shun was a quite guy that stayed somewhat out of the public eye, now he’s being forced out into the center.
Now for Yuka. Before her case of isomerism she was gathered towards the center of the public’s eye and maintained a social circle comprised of a decent amount of her peers. After she develops it she directly & indirectly decreases the people orbiting in her inner social circle. Part of this is because she’s trying to isolate Shun in an attempt to prevent him from relying on anyone but her. She has a stronger attachment to her dream of romance than to the sex her body was for most of her life. She is developing confidence in herself that she didn’t have, or didn’t feel comfortable expressing, prior to her case of isomerism.
