In Japan, the prime minister acts as the "president" so to speak. Unlike England's monarchy, Japan has a parliamentary system which the prime minister governs as executive chief of the national cabinet and commander-in-chief of the military, so it is really kind of a big deal to the citizens the status and rumors of the prime minister.
I might just not be immersed in politics enough but it felt like they were treating male lead as less of a prime minister and more like a king? Are prime ministers usually treated like they’re a different status to commoners ppl that people actually give a fck about who he marrys? And his subordinates act like dedicated servants or something idk...
