Does it... well, good for you if it's making you. But I personally find the lack of subtlety cheap, and no, doesn't make me "think twice" at all. In fact, I don't actually need to think. There's nothing surprising here, not in the "characterization" (which I have to say... bland), not in the dialogue/narration, not in the plot, because the elements in this manga have been overplayed in quite a lot of "angsty" manga before.

Really? You do know you're contradicting yourself right? Bland and angsty or overplayed? Cannot put those words together and have them make sense no matter how much you try. Also if you say this is overplayed then every story is overplayed. Because except for thirteen stories every trope has been used over and over again. Gabdab.

I thought about it and, in fact, I sometimes have the impression that conro's is making fun of me hahaha, I like the stories but sometimes they are just too much, and that results a bit fake. This one is not actually that excessive, and I'm liking it.
In fact if I think of conro I think about that scene (don't really remember what work) where there's a guy that's a tailor, where he longs for dick so much he's depressed about it and proceeds to go in the ocean, lowers his undies and pants and proceeds to finger his butthole in desperation while completely underwater and almost drowns... I mean...yeah

I honestly didn't get what you mean. Only because "bland and angsty or overplayed" DO make sense to me, especially in a lot of misery porn like this one. And you're right, every story uses the same tropes over and over again. It's only a matter of execution, and in my personal opinion, wasn't really good in this story. Which is what I was trying to say, but I guess that didn't get across. Oh well Let's just settle with: to each our own

True, I read those kinds of works and I find some entertaining enough. But Conro's... once we're given the sad back story, it goes "ok done characterization established" and starts getting inconsistent, like... ??? So they always feel off to me. And in this case, even the narration is weak imo, too
I think you might be referring to Nagi Wataru's Renai Fuyuki Todoki, actually! Lol that one, It wasn't good, but it didn't leave a bad taste on my mouth like this one did because I just couldn't take it seriously
I cannot get behind any of Conro's works exactly for this reason: the cheap angst and the pretentious air. But entertaining enough I guess
