okay so while shion plays in the sandcastle with the girls these two chara men came up to them and started to touch on mayu then when shion tried protecting mayu from the chara men a senior by the name of hodaka stops them . Then shion and the senior became friends and when rui saw that he got jealous. Then the senior suggested that he’d do a barbecue so he did then shion saw rui hanging out with some girls so he got jealous. And while shion was hanging out with hodaka he asked him if he was with rui and he responded with “I don’t know “ then at the end they both had sex and confessed their feelings for each other but before rui could speak shion turned back into a man and said something stupid .

is it a happy ending? it feels like there's gonna be some angst by the way you described it.

in the end of volume 12 it just showed rui was a disappointed face then ended . more chapters will be out soon though
