The shouting part and ending it and the kissing sence...? they make him seem like a good for nothing Bastard who doesn't care about his wife, when all he ever things of is her, and plus they could've ended it when riftan saw a bruise on maxi and looked like he was about to murder someone, that coud've beena better cliffhanger... cause literaly after this, they talked, but of course they gotta make him shout at his wife (in the novel he didn't, he tried his best yo stay cool), and they ended it at the kissing scence (despite literaly like 1 second or 1 minute after that they talked) making him seem like a horny bastard...
Oh no I'm sorry, at the historical part, I meant about the overprotectiveness of the partners who are deemed as frailer and that's why they don't really make them do much.
