So, once upon a time there were 3 high-schoolers named Jaehyun (aka:Kang our MC), Hyeonseo, and PoGyeong. The three of them were inseparable and while Kang and Hyeonseo dated and fell in love, PoGyeong always crushed on Hyeonseo but left over-seas because Hyeonseo was happy and that was enough for him. Unfortunately, a few years later a bitch named YoonKyung came into Kang's life and completely ruined ER-Y-THANG!
You see, YoonKyung's a ho...she legit gets her kicks wrapping men around her finger and dropping them when they fall for her. She tried this on our boy Kang but he told her off and afterwards she made it her goal to ruin him and his relationship with Hyeonseo. After an unspecified event, she succeeds and Hyeonseo runs away from Kang in despair before promptly being hit by a car (implied but not stated to have been YoonKyung's plan). This breaks Kang Jaehyun's heart and he becomes unable to do anything but regret his past. During this bout of melancholy, 10 years pass and in this time Kang finds a kitten left abandoned and brings it home. This kitten has been living with Kang from then up until our story begins...when it makes a Pinocchio-esq wish and is blessed by a/the Blue Fairy~
When Kang wakes up, he realizes his cat has been transformed into a pre-teen cat-boy! Ran (the cat/boy's name is Ran) is unable to speak, walk, or do most anything at first but with the help of Kang's relatives and the neighborhood mothers, Ran becomes a part of the community, beloved by all! Unfortunately, while Kang is being rejuvenated with Ran's help, PoGyeong has come back from over-seas and has only just learned of the fate of his beloved...he isn't happy and promptly murders the **** out of YoonKyung the skank-queen before moving on to set his sights on his next target--Kang Jaehyun--who PoGyeong blames for Hyeonseo's death just as much as YoonKyung.
Meanwhile, Kang is doing his best to raise Ran. Things were off-putting at first because Kang saw Ran's new form as Hyeonseo coming back to him and thus has inappropriate feelings towards Ran who's as innocent as snow is white. Thankfully, via above mentioned relatives and neighbors, Kang comes to treat Ran as his son and even has him take a picture at this new shop run by PoGyeong his long time friend (aka murderous sob). Po of course falls in love with Ran's cuteness but more than that, he's taken aback by how Kang has been wallowing in despair for the last 10 years and this has him rethink his purpose--after all, it's fair that Kang is suffering--right? Well, that all comes undone the moment Kang seems to want to stop wallowing and PoGyeong bides his time before deciding to kidnap Ran.
After kidnapping Ran, things seem to be okay as he grows on Po and Po is hesitant to kill him. This all comes undone as Ran tries to talk some sense into PoGyeong (becuz for unknown reasons, PoGyeong can understand Ran like children can). Po strangles Ran to death and is later found by Kang and arrested...but it's too late. Kang finds Ran in his cat form, now dead in front of some restaurant owner's café (she's a heartless witch btw). Left again alone in despair, Kang is finally able to separate his feelings for Ran from Hyeonseo, wishing he could have back what he's lost. Hearing his wish and having wanted nothing more than Kang's happiness, Ran is granted new life one last time by the Blue Fairy and the next morning, Kang wakes to find a now human and aged-up Ran! (Mind you, the age-up is never given a definitive number, same as his pre-teen form but it can be assumed he has aged to AT LEAST 16 since this is a Korean manwa and that's the legal age for them iirc--I headcannon Ran as 18+ personally and he very well may be.)
The story continues for a bit while focusing on Ran's growth and wanting to be seen as a love interest despite how Kang no longer sees him as Hyeonseo's replacement. While he tries to display his affection for Kang at the end, Ran is basically declined as Kang admits that in the past he might have returned Ran's feelings but as of now, Ran really is like a pure-hearted son to him and all Kang truly wants is his happiness~ (Don't worry though, the neighborhood boy's have already been laying dibs on Ran since earlier so he sure as heck won't be lonely :3)
(P.S. about 1/3+ of this story is about schoolgirl drama and lemme just say, while interesting in its own right, it ends in a pretty wtf manner. Here is a BRIEF summary: Jho (yellow hair) likes a boy that likes Kang's relative N-ho. J-ho fails at life but her "friend" Jhoon (long brown haired psyc-HO) has her back until she doesnt...and then some guy tries to gang rape J-ho but that's actually a lie set up by Jhoon cuz she wants J-ho to be reliant on her by saving her. IT ENDS WITH THIS!--J HO FALLS FOR JHOONS TRICK! But on the bright side--N-Ho gets her man in the end and they're happy.)
THE END! I HOPE THIS ESSAY HAS BEEN HELPFUL TO THOSE CONFUZZLED~
