I really don’t like it. Everybody in this story is manipulative except for the MC. And why would we feel sorry for Hayato? For the MC to realize that he will always be a placeholder and second best to his lover’s ex? Hayato giving him a ring doesn’t matter at all. What matters are his actions and what else is the conclusion to him telling his lover to not come over whenever his ex calls and wants to hang out? Honestly I think the most honest moment from Hayato is when he tells his ex to nevermind his lover and that his ex is the most important person in this moment. We even find out that Hayato was the one offering his ex to stay with him. It wasn’t the ex who begged for shelter. Hayato went out of his way for his ex. He shows a lot of care for his ex, but not any for his supposed boyfriend. That says a lot. I also don’t get why the boss feels sorry for Hayato. Seems like he’s only a mouthpiece of the author to let us know that the MC was wrong for leaving that douchebag. It’s hilarious to me that Hayato’s ex has the balls to try and make MC feel bad about leaving Hayato. Or how he doesn’t deserve him because he left after it was made so obvious he will always be second best. Did the ex forget what Hayato told him about how much he means to him? So why does he say there is nothing to worry about? Maybe the ex has nothing to worry about, but the MC certainly does. It’s obvious Hayato is still sweet on his ex. The only reason they are not together is because the ex is not in love with Hayato anymore. Otherwise Hayato would have jumped ship already. And the story about some girlfriend being there just sounds like a tagged on lie. There was no trace of her anywhere. The excuse that he hid her shoes because of her ex husband is idiotic. How would this guy just get into that apartment? Why would the ex stay there in the first place if his location was known to ex husband? Why would the ex husband know his ex wife’s new lover’s best friend/former lover’s home address? It just doesn’t add up at all. The MC didn’t misunderstand anything at all, he got the drift and cut that dude off without fuss. That was rather mature. Why cry and complain if your SO could give less of a fuck and puts some “friend” above you? I don’t see this as a communication problem at all. Hayato doesn’t want his lover and former lover to meet. Why? Giving MC a Ring should be a sign that Hayato is committed to the relationship. But as soon as his ex calls, he sends his lover away and tells him not to come around for a while. No explanation whatsoever. He just wants to be alone with his ex. You only do that if you want to keep a certain romantic door open, just in case. And a lover would be in the way and send the wrong message to the ex, in case your ex decides to jump on your dick. I wonder what would happen if the ex decided he wants a rebound? What if the ex gets into more trouble? Will Hayato ask him to stay over again and send the MC packing again? Lol. This manga reminds me of “bros before hoes”. Of course the ex, who doesn’t want Hayato, would try to keep them together. It’s the least he can do as a friend. But the MC is alone, he has no one advocating for him. So I’m not surprised he fell right back into it.
