Woh why can’t you guys just debate peacefully? I absolutely agree with what Suckthatlollipop said.
Tell you what, I read really kinky shit and I absolutely LOVE when a character get taken against their will. In porn. Because it’s porn. It’s a fantasy, like many others. And when I clic on that filthy doujinshi with rape play I know what I signed for and that I’m just here to fap. ( I also read stories with veeeeey toxic characters and relationship which I love but they’re never shown as something else than toxic and wrong. And that’s why it’s good)
BUT on the other hand, I’ve been reading yaoi for a very veeeeery long time, and I too, am getting really tired of rape being romanticized, aggressors being excused, the act being normalized and even showed as cute or at least fine in most stories and the story wanting to show us the relationship as “good”.
Why? First of all, I didn’t sign up for that as first. Most stories have a good start and then bam, suddenly a perfectly good story get a rape scene out of nowhere that is most of the time irrelevant to the plot. Like literally there’s like hundred of different ways this could have gone which would have been better.
Secondly, like it had been said. It gives a twisted view of relationships. Because it’s so frequent and always normalized. How many girls out there still get raped for their first time because they just don’t know any better? Because all they see in media is a wrong screwed up view of sex and relationships?
I’m the first to claim that fiction and reality ARE different. Just because you enjoy reading about murder, or kinky rape sex like me, does not mean you’re a psychopath and you’re going to kill someone or rape someone tomorrow.
HOWEVER thinking fiction does not influence reality at all, is also wrong. Media have always and will always influence people. It’s the basic of propagandas. If someone read only love stories about perfect people then they will have a twisted view on love and relationship because they will want “that perfect love story” that doesn’t exist in real life. In the same way, if you keep reading about relationships shown as normal (but aren’t) you might end up thinking it’s normal if depicted as such.
To summarize it. Because I could honestly write a freaking essay on this subject as i’m a story writer and a nerd about human psyche, but this is already pretty long so I’m gonna stop here.
Now I understand everyone can not agree with me but let’s be civilized about it. Hear my arguments out and try to understand them, I will do the same if you don’t send them to my face while calling me names.
And in the end we can still all agree to disagree.
You think I don’t help rape victims when I encounter them? You guys keep normalizing rape in ROMANCE stories, in relationships, etc. to the point where it affects REAL VICTIMS. If a real person was getting raped at this very moment, what power do I hold to stop the rapist? You’re asking for the impossible because you have a distorted mindset that somehow stopping the positive representation of rape in romance stories will not help rape victims, but how do you know? What is so wrong about criticizing a fictional character’s behavior? If they rape someone, people should and will call it out because it is wrong. Does it affect the fictional character in any way shape or form? What is that fictional character going to do? Yell at us?
Also besides that, it is indeed an illegal BL scan comments sections, so anyone is free to give their opinion.
Personally people screaming at rape for some stories in the comment section let me know that sometimes I will not enjoy a story and should not waste my time on it. So yeah it’s useful. No one said the comments section all had to be “woh great story, keep coming”. That’s sadly what free speech is.
Rape can never be romanticized and should not be romanticized. And u answered your own question. U being like this helps absolutely nothing. And u actually just keep proving my point when u say i have a distorted mindset because i tend to hate when people act like this. Ur acting like u have a higher moral ground than me and that's all u have been doing from the start to finish. Your a white lotus and nothing can convince me otherwise. This helps nothing thats simply what im saying. Ur acting like artists decision to write about rape makes them morally deficient. Why shouldnt they draw about a topic if they want to? Ur acting like not drawing about it completely will make rape go away, like it will stop
If u ignore it long enough, it wont be a thing.
If anything what makes rape happen, its not fiction. Its not the media. Its rapists. The media can be the best never show what happens and it will still happen behind close doors. All im saying that the method ur trying to impose will help nothing. Artists are allowed their creative freedom and i do not have a distorted mindset. I just have different opinions. I do not enjoy rape or anything. I am quite desentized bcs it is very much apparent but ive never read rape and decided i wanted to rape anyone.
Its like u telling people to abstain from sex in a school knowing they will have sex anyways. Thats all im saying. Depending on artists to fix something that has been going on for millenniums will not help. Again, u just want moral high ground, not once did i say rape was something good or do i condone but i still do not project things like this.
In your logic, pedophillic artists can draw child p*rnography because they have the freedom to do so. There is no moral high ground to be held, I stated my opinion of distaste for rape in romance stories and you simply started attacking me for doing so. If you hate people bitching about rape so much, then ignore the comments. Your logic is telling other people to stop complaining about rape in romance stories because you don’t want to see it, yet you make absolutely no effort to ignore it. I could restate it over and over again that the normalization of rape in love stories (also mangas are media in case you didn’t know) INFLUENCES the PERCEPTION of rape, it does not directly make it happen. But you would never understand that because you’re too closed minded to understand my point. You say that you also don’t like rape in love stories, yet attack those who verbally express the same sentiments.
ok u guys need to like take a chill pill lmao
pls spend ur time doing other things besides attacking each other in the comments of this manga LMAO
this isn’t even ab rape anymore like u guys r just out here straight up hating on each other
neither of u have the right to make assumptions on each other’s character based on a few comments so why don’t we just leave this as is and not come for each other
I did not come after anyones character from the start. I came after the insinuation that putting the responsibility on artists to stop rape is flawed. That is simply what im saying. Just as this person as the right to speak, the artists as a right to draw however they please and why do they think a person will not see this as wrong as well and instead think it is fine just like they did. Thats why this is a 18+ manga. Artists are allowed to draw the way they want and who are we to tell them to stop just because it does not sit right with some people. Why is it their responsibility to save people from the desecrated mindset of humanity? All im saying it is purily hypothetical to judge an artist work with their biases when they wont even pay for it. No it does not sit right with me either but i do not push such burdens unto people just bcs it is wrong.
Arent people old enough to see that something is wrong, acknowledge its wrong and it was the artist decided to draw it that way and move on. if it doesnt sit right with me, i exit it and move on. I do not see how it will affect anyone if they cry rape in the comment section. This is my first time commenting after years of reading bl. Hypocritical that's all I'm saying.
I’m more concerned that you perceive people who think rape in love stories is bad as people who are on “high horses”. If your morals are different, good on you, but there is undeniable evidence that media does influence reality. Take biglightsaber’s great advice of “if you ignore it long enough, it won’t be a thing” the next time you encounter a problem.
Oh no that's what ur proclaiming, not me. I said that bcs u think taking it out of media will make it go away. Dont twist my words. Again, u with ur judging, bad? They are extremely valid but it is useless. When did i say people who are screaming rape are bad? I said it is hypocritical. U can have an opinion as much as u want but screaming rape here is gonna help who? Stop who? It helps no one. Thats all im saying. Rape in romance is very bad but again, u guys pick and choose what u hate. Ive never seen a comment section with slavery or murder or psychological elements this loud.
And really? Can the artists even see this? Ur just screaming into a void as always.
So what's the damn use?
Because the normalization of rape in romantic relationships, especially LGBT representation of this occurence, is incredibly damaging and contribute to victim blaming and rape culture, which directly affects victims. And I do speak out when slavery, murder, and mental illnesses are being romanticized when they shouldn’t be. Screaming into the void definitely won’t stop artists from creating this, but it raises awareness that this is not normal behavior and should not be viewed as love in real life situations. It’s ignorant to simply assume that everyone on this website will automatically know it’s wrong. Some don’t, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but we should help educate them in order to avoid becoming a victim in the future without knowing.
Stopping casual rape jokes, victim blaming, and holding victims at the equal responsibility as the perpetrator are all ways that contribute to stopping the normalization of victim blaming and rape.
I highly encourage that you read more into how the depiction rape of in fiction/media can contribute to the rape culture (society’s de- sensitization to rape).

If you don't like it, just shut up and go. Why get angry in the comments? You guys are weird. Rape in fiction cannot be treated the same as rape in the real world. A lot of people have rape fetishes and they write that down in their work.
If you want to fight rape, don't do it here, there's no point defending a 2D victim whose fate is determined by the author. Help real rape victims, give them mental support. You must have a life apart from thinking about fictional rape.
