Violet had all of that "fall in love at first sight" thingy right before they got married. During her childhood, none of her family cared for her. Her dad was too busy and her mom only cared about the male offsprings. Her in-laws mistreat her beyond belief. Not even the maids and other subordinates treat her with respect. She lost her royalty title and fell out of touch with friends. The only person she has left is her husband.
She put all of herself to be the best wife for him as a way apologise for her brother's scam. That's the only thing she thought she could do in her situation. Her depression didn't even allowed her leave her own home. Without him, she found no more reason to live.
Totally, why that may not be food she has reason for it. Then while he has his own background problems too. Being a slaves with abuse by both humans....and other creatures...being hated by everyone for his identity. Than also working his way to make money only to lose it... we can tell he has chosen to have no form of relationship in his heart since he never really had one in the first place.....
Since they are starting to slowly see each others side I really hope they let go of their past.

I don’t think she’s expecting him to be her hero she’s expecting the bare minimum from her husband some quality time.
They both got issues....they really need to talk.
And I'm shocked she even trusted the brother again after what he did.
She is obviously suffering from depression and suicidal thoughts....it seems to me that she is expecting him to be her saviour?!?....she has very high dependence on him despite their lack of connection at all.....looking forward to bother their growth.
